Authorized Climber/Authorized Rescuer Combo (April 5-8)

April 5 - April 8

AUTHORIZED CLIMBER
Course Duration: 2-Day/16 Hours
Certification Valid For: 2 Years

This course is designed for the new climber or those experienced but not yet certified. Content covers rules, regulations, and standards set forth by OSHA, ANSI, and NATE. They will learn about the various PPE types, wear, use, and inspection; a hazard assessment and preparation when working at height.

This course also offers physical training at a tower site where participants will discuss job hazard analysis, climbing, and using the PPE provided by your company. We will observe 3 points of contact and 100% tie-off utilizing the cable grab, Y-style lanyard, SRL & rope grab system. We will discuss work positioning lanyards and transition from surface to surface simulating work on a tower. A written exam is part of the course and requires a minimum score of 80% to pass.

Upon completion of Authorized Climber, participants will be able to demonstrate proper knowledge, understanding, and application of the PPE used and will possess the ability to maintain 100% tie off. A wallet card and certificate are issued upon successful completion. The AC certification is valid for two years.

The next step, Competent Climber, is achieved after the Authorized Climber has demonstrated 90 days of actual tower climbing experience as attested by the employed company.

AUTHORIZED RESCUER
Course Duration: 2-Days/16 Hours
Certification Valid For: 2 Years

The course is designed to teach the climber what to expect in an emergency and how to properly react and recover from an emergency. We recommend bringing your descent device to train on the exact equipment you will be using.

Course content includes a review of OSHA, ANSI and NFPA (rescue) standards, an extensive PPE inspection, the medical effects of being suspended & immobile, and self-rescue techniques. Ropes & Knots are also reviewed and learned for the specific needs in a rescue and having a second human attached to the line. Authorized Rescuer also covers victim lowering and mechanical advantage, tandem rescue, and team situational rescues which uses techniques taught in class.

A written exam is part of the course and requires a minimum scour of 80% to pass. A wallet card and certificate are issued upon successful completion.

This course is the first step in becoming a Competent Rescuer. The last steps achieved at your company are being designated capable of implementing, supervising, and monitoring a rescue at height and will also have the responsibility to implement the site rescue plan. Once your company attest to the last two requirements, CITCA will issue a Competent Rescuer wallet card. The AR certification is valid for two years.
